Your Role

We are looking for an Financial Accountant to join our Sydney Finance team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant ensures the provision of timely and accurate Financial Accounting information and analysis while assisting with the forecast and budget submission to enable management to make informed business decisions.

Our Team

The Finance Department provides strategic input to the firm based on an analysis of financial data and forecasting of results to ensure planning, budgeting and performance tracking activities meet the firm's goals.

Your day

As Financial Accountant, you'll be accountable for providing insight and analysis on financial reporting and assisting with budgeting and reporting. Responsibilities include:

  • Financial analysis of actual results against budget to support decision making and ensure targets are met
  • Preparing monthly journals and assisting with monthly management reporting
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting, including the annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Assisting with planning, risk management and strategy
  • Maintaining the general ledger to ensure accurate processing of transactions

Your clients

As a member of our Finance Team, you will partner with many parts of the Firm, across various Practice Groups and Departments.  

The key internal client relationships for this position are other members of the Finance department as well as frequent communication with members of the firm's Executive. The position also requires providing advice to all staff across the firm relating to accounting matters.

The key external stakeholders for this position include key personnel from the firm's auditors, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) as well as various Government departments.

What you'll bring

  • CA ANZ, or CPA qualification
  • Experience in a technical accounting role
  • Understanding of financial and management accounting
  • Experience working in a professional services environment is preferred
  • Attention to detail, complex problem solving, and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Awareness of Trust Accounting (in a legal services environment preferred but not essential).

Work pattern

We are looking for a full-time Financial Accountant. 

This is a permanent opportunity to be based in our Sydney office.

We also support a hybrid working model, where working from home is part of the norm.
