Your Role

Allens' Sydney office is looking for a star Accounts Payable Clerk to join our Finance team on a full time basis.

Our Team

The Finance Department provides strategic input to the firm based on an analysis of financial data and forecasting of results to ensure planning, budgeting and performance tracking activities meet the firm's goals.  Operational tasks include all financial and statutory reporting, management reporting, expense control, capital management, tax, payroll, accounts payable, risk management and liaison with external auditors.

The position of Accounts Payable Clerk focuses primarily on the accurate and timely recording of all corporate credit card expenditure and staff reimbursements in order to provide excellent service levels in line with client expectations.

Your day

The position of Accounts Payable Clerk focuses primarily on the accurate and timely processing of all corporate credit card expenditure and staff reimbursements in order to provide excellent service levels in line with client expectations. Your day will include:

  • Managing the aging of the statement periods
  • Approval and coding follow ups
  • Administration of the corporate credit card program for AMEX, Mastercard and VISA
  • Administration of our expense management system, Fraedom
  • Policy adherence, responding to ad-hoc queries and following up disputed items
  • Monthly reconciliation of expenses transferred from Fraedom to our practice management system and resolution of any variances between the platforms
  • Escalation management reporting and identifying opportunities for efficiency in our processes
  • Preparing, paying and reconciling staff reimbursements

Your clients

You'll work with both legal teams and corporate services across the Firm and externally with a range of stakeholders. Your key stakeholders on a daily basis will be the wider finance team, Allens practice assistants,  our corporate credit card providers and our software vendors to ensure compliance and improvements to policy, processes and internal controls.

What you'll bring

  • Previous Accounts Payable or Finance Clerk experience in a large organisation
  • Excellent client service skills and professionalism demonstrated by responding appropriately and promptly to all forms of communication to deliver a high quality client service
  • Confidence dealing external stakeholders such as our corporate credit card providers, banks, auditors and software vendors
  • Organised, methodical and composed when there are peaks in work load
  • A good knowledge of GST compliance
  • Exceptional attention to detail, as you will be updating and maintaining databases, ensuring data quality, preparing reports for management
  • An ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team by displaying high standards of conduct and supporting the overall objectives of the team
  • An understanding of audit processes, controls and procedures to demonstrate knowledge of risk management when working with the external auditors

Work pattern

This is a permanent, full time role, however we are open to applicants looking to work 4 days a week (0.8 FTE).

We also support a hybrid working model where working from home part of the week is the norm.
