Our Funds, Super & Wealth (FSW) team in Melbourne is expanding and we are looking for a Junior Lawyer or Associate to join our close-knit and dynamic Funds team. We're open to lawyers who have rotated through a corporate, real estate, or project group within a law firm and have an interest in funds.
Allens has one of the leading Funds, Super & Wealth practices in Australia. We act for many of the largest fund managers, investment managers and institutional investors in and outside of Australia, and have been involved in many of Australia's landmark fund-related transactions and projects.
Working in a close-knit, growing and dynamic team, the position involves acting on fund-related matters across a range of asset classes and industry sectors, and provides access to a broad range of both transactional and advisory work.
As a lawyer within our Funds team, you will be working closely with and supporting both the Partners and Senior Associates, alongside the other associates and junior lawyers in the team. Your role will include:
- Advising leading Australian and global fund managers in establishing new Australian funds, raising capital and operating funds in Australia – including wholesale funds, capital partnerships and club funds, funds-of-one and listed and unlisted retail funds and stapled groups.
- Advising leading Australian and global institutional investors in relation to their direct and indirect investments across a range of traditional and emerging asset classes.
- Advising on financial services regulatory issues relevant to fund managers and investors.
We act for many of Australia's largest fund managers, investment managers and institutional investors, and for global fund managers, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds.
You will have access to the firm's extensive client base to explore and develop new opportunities and deliver outstanding service. You will act for a wide range of clients, each with unique and challenging work environments. We mobilise quickly, listen to client concerns and base your recommendations on what's most important to them.
Your career trajectory
Our Funds team is looking for a Junior Lawyer or Associate who has the desire to learn and develop their career with us. As a member of our experienced and friendly team within Australia's leading law firm, you will be challenged, supported and guided as you continue to learn and develop during your career at Allens.
We will support you on your journey and will give you access to our career framework when you join, providing a clear understanding of high performance at each career stage at Allens.
We also recognise that every employee's experience is different, and at Allens we know that successful and enjoyable careers come through your focus and commitment to being the best you can be, in an environment where you are supported and encouraged, and have clarity on key processes and decisions. Our career deal is a key part in achieving this; our deal asks you to take the lead for your career, with us providing the coaching and support to help you meet your goals and aspirations.
What you'll bring
- Experience in Corporate, Real Estate, or Project law, whether through graduate rotations within a law firm or settling in those practice groups
- An interest in specialising in funds management, including transactional and advisory work, and a desire to learn and contribute as a significant member of our team.
- Strong analytical, communication and advice writing skills.
- An ability to establish a professional profile and internal networks.
- A willingness to actively contribute to and support others.
- A willingness to contribute to knowledge management and thought leadership.
This is a permanent opportunity for a Junior Lawyer or Associate.
We are ideally looking for a full-time Associate, but we support flexibility, and would be happy to discuss what arrangements would work best for you.
