Our Chambers Band 1 Corporate M&A and Capital Markets practice is expanding and we are recruiting a high-calibre Senior Associate with Equity Capital Markets experience to join our Perth team. Our Mergers & Acquisitions / M&A and Capital Markets (MAC) Team is an integral part of the Allens broader Corporate Practice Group. We are pleased to have played a crucial role in the largest and most complex deals in Australia's corporate history.
As part of the MAC practice, our Equity Capital Markets (ECM) team has extensive experience advising issuers and underwriters on IPOs, placements, rights issues, tier 1 capital raisings, hybrids, structured products and stapled securities.
Our clients use the Allens equity capital markets team for their complex, high value and most important capital markets transaction. Clients value our technical expertise, depth of experience and commercial insight. We are routinely (and have consistently been for many years) advising on the other side of band one ranked firms.
The Allens ECM team has been working closely with a number of our longstanding clients to assist them throughout this process. In this period, the Allens ECM team has been involved in in 4 of the Top 5 deals, 5 of the Top 10 deals, and 10 of the Top 20 deals, showcasing the depth and capability of our ECM team.
The recent appointments of Bryn Hardcastle as a Partner and Dave Filov as a Counsel, working alongside seasoned Partner Andrew Pascoe, are set to propel Allens' market-leading corporate practice in Perth, expanding the firm's equity capital markets (ECM) capability and broadening its client base across all markets.
Our team operates nationally and works collaboratively and includes specialist MAC Partners and Lawyers, supported by Knowledge Management Lawyers, Business Development staff and Practice Assistants. You will also work closely with many parts of the firm (including Banking & Finance, Tax, Funds).

The range of services provided by our market leading MAC legal team at Allens is varied. Working alongside a number of market leading practitioners, you will have the opportunity to work on a high quality deal flow. In addition, you will gain exposure across a broad range of sectors including mining, infrastructure, energy, financial services, health, media, technology and retail. You will also be working alongside, and supervising, a team of lawyers who have considerable experience in ECM transactions, including experiences from having undertaken secondments with the ASX. We will be looking for you to mentor and motivate these young lawyers.

Ranked as a band-1 practice by Chambers Global, you will deliver highly successful outcomes in M&A for leading companies and financial sponsors in Australia and around the world. There is also an opportunity in the Perth market to act for a number of emerging mid-market companies given the high volume of ECM work in Perth. As a member of our MAC Team, you will also have access to the firm's extensive client base to explore and develop new opportunities and deliver outstanding service. What you'll be bring
- Demonstrated experience in Equity Capital Markets from a leading Capital Markets practice, ideally from a top tier, national or international firm.
- Strong working knowledge of capital raising, commercial contracting, continuous disclosure, corporate governance, divestments, joint ventures, restructures and regulatory communications, preferably with some experience either in the energy and resources and/or technology sectors.
- Understanding of the ASX Listing Rules and Corporations Act
- Solid drafting skills
- An ability to effectively manage smaller matters and elements of larger matters.
- A willingness to participate in business development activities, such as pitch documents, client/pitch presentations, firm-wide pursuits, article writing, attending industry events and hosting seminars.
- A desire and ability to grow, both as a Corporate MAC lawyer and as a leader.
- A willingness to build an understanding of clients and develop effective working relationships.
- An ability to establish a professional profile and internal networks.
- A willingness to develop others through mentoring and sharing experiences and networks.
