We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Corporate team, with the role based out of the Perth office of Allens, with specific experience in Oil and Gas, Energy, and Resources.
This is a fantastic role for a projects focused M&A lawyer interested in working in a collaborative and high performing team, building relationships with large, listed clients and advising on complex and interesting transactions in the Perth and national market, in these sectors.
The energy and resources industry is changing rapidly. At Allens, we are regularly sought out by major resources clients to assist them with large-scale projects and complex commercial transactions across the oil and gas, energy and mining sectors. We have been involved in the majority of oil and gas/LNG project in Australia, and are growing our hydrogen based practice.
We work with our clients in this sector across the entire spectrum of issues that arise, including: acquisitions, disposals and restructures; joint ventures; the full cycle of approvals for development of mineral and petroleum projects; advising on project operational and regulatory matters; land access and native title; agreements for supply of use of crucial infrastructure such as rail, port and water; gas and commodity sale agreements.
A snapshot of our recent matters includes:
- Acquisition of Darwin LNG interest from ConocoPhillips
- Acquisition of Shell QCLNG common infrastructure interest
- Acquisition of interest in Gladstone LNG infrastructure
- Wesfarmers/Kidman merger
- Oil Search merger with Santos
- Project work on Waitsia, and West Errugulla
As a Senior Associate in our Corporate practice, you'll get the benefit of spending part of your time working across our wider Corporate team (M&A and capital mergers) while specialising in Oil and Gas, Energy, and Resources, building relationships with key clients.
Your day will typically include advising on matters such as:
- Acquisitions and divestments in the oil and gas, energy, and resources sectors including related infrastructure transactions
- Joint ventures, JOAs, shareholders agreements and partnership structures
- LNG project agreements such as tolling agreements in the context of M&A
Our Perth team is a core part of Allens' national Corporate team, offering members the ability to work for Allens' national client base and to regularly work with lawyers from our offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, as well as our associate offices around the world in our Linklaters alliance. What you'll bring
- Experience working in the oil and gas, energy, and resources sector at a leading Australian practice or international firm.
- Experience advising on M&A transactions and/or project development.
- An enthusiastic interest in the sector, a willingness to learn and a growth mindset.
- An ability to effectively manage matters autonomously.
- Experience mentoring and leading others.
- A willingness to build an understanding of clients and develop effective working relationships with them.
- An ability to establish a professional profile and internal networks including across all our offices, as we work as an integrated team across jurisdictions.
