Our Australian offices are growing and we have a new opportunity for a Senior Associate (or equivalent) with AML/CTF and/or retail financial services experience to join our Corporate Funds, Super, Wealth (FSW) team. The successful candidate will be key members of the Group, getting the opportunity to work with a broad range clients.
Our highly regarded Funds, Superannuation & Wealth (FSW) Team sits within the broader Allens Corporate Practice. We work in a close-knit, growing and dynamic team, acting for some of Australia's leading banks, non-bank lenders, fund managers, super trustees, institutional investors and other financial services providers across a range of industry sectors. We provide access to a broad range of both transactional and advisory work.
Allens has one of the leading AML/CTF and retail financial services practices in Australia. We have extensive experience in all aspects of retail banking, anti-money laundering and broader financial services law.
As a Senior Associate, you will work in a high-energy and collaborative environment advising our clients on a broad range of complex and challenging issues arising under the AML/CTF Act, the National Consumer Credit Protection Act, the Banking Act, the Banking Code of Practice, the ePayments Code and the ASIC Act.
You will also provide subject-matter expertise to our Disputes & Investigations team on contentious regulatory matters, primarily in relation to AML/CTF enforcement, and support our market leading M&A practice on significant financial services transactions.
We act for many of Australia's largest banks, non-bank lenders, superannuation and investment funds, and for global fund managers, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds.
You will work closely with many teams within the firm, including Disputes & Investigations, M&A and Banking & Finance. Through our integrated alliance with Linklaters, you'll also have the opportunity to partner with experts across the globe, coordinating responses to complex regulatory issues across multiple jurisdictions.

What you'll bring
- 5+ years PQE plus demonstrable experience in retail financial services and/or AML/CTF law, gained either in private practice, public sector or in-house
- The ability to work cohesively in a team and hybrid working environment
- Enthusiasm and passion for complex areas of law
- Strong analytical skills
- An ability to effectively manage matters as well as discreet elements of large matters
- A desire and ability to grow, both as a lawyer and leader
- A willingness to build an understanding of clients and develop effective working relationships
- An ability to establish a professional profile and internal networks
- A willingness to develop others through mentoring and sharing experiences and networks.
