We are looking for talented and motivated Associates and Senior Associates to join our Projects team in Sydney. This is a fantastic opportunity for lawyers interested in working in a collaborative and high performing team advising on some of the most complex and interesting transactions in the market. We are particularly interested in hearing from lawyers with Infrastructure and Energy expertise and / or an interest in working on large scale development projects.
The Allens Projects, Real Estate & Development Practice Group is made up of two main streams:
• Projects (Construction, Infrastructure and Energy)
• Real Estate & Development (including Environment & Planning)
You'll be joining a team of Projects Partners and Lawyers who are experts in either Construction & Infrastructure or Energy. We're a close-knit and supportive team and will help you develop your career.
Our Projects Team, which we are looking to grow, provides comprehensive whole-of-life advice on energy and infrastructure projects. The team is known for working with clients throughout the full lifecycle of their projects, from origination to construction and development, to operation and end of life.
Sponsors, investors, contractors, developers and operators of infrastructure assets and all levels of Government come to us for advice across the lifecycle of major projects. From procurement design, probity and tendering, through to delivery advisory services and dispute resolution. We have the necessary technical expertise, experience and industry knowledge to assist across all stages of the construction cycle and across all procurement methodologies. The team has recently worked with clients on major projects including Sydney Metro PPP, Melbourne Metro PPP, Footscray Hospital PPP and WestConnex.
Our energy practice spans all aspects of the energy sector, including renewable energy, large-scale electricity procurements, new energy, and regulation. We advise clients across the entire energy market transition story – from the development and construction of renewable projects, grid connections, electricity procurement solutions for large corporates / large energy users, rule changes for energy regulatory bodies, through to advising across both investment in and divestments of renewable assets and support of new energy technologies, particularly firming technologies such as battery storage and hydrogen. The team has recently worked with clients on major energy projects such as the 1GW MacIntyre Wind Farm Precinct, Snowy 2.0, major electricity interconnector infrastructure, as well as a range of battery, solar and wind projects.
As part of our team, you will play an important role delivering client work on market-leading projects and transactions and working with us to identify and win new work opportunities. The key features of this role are the challenging work you will experience, the variety of transactions you can expect to get involved in and the broad range of clients and people you will work with.
Your role will typically include advising on:
• Acting for significant resources companies in relation to key project documents such as State Agreements, joint venture agreements, royalty arrangements and access deeds.
• Acting for significant players in the Infrastructure and Energy sector on key documents such as joint operating agreements, LNG sale and purchase agreements, lifting and balancing agreements, tolling and supply and offtake agreements.
• Advising clients in relation to all aspects of acquisitions and disposals, from legal due diligence, through preparation of transaction documents, to completion.
• Assisting clients to obtain regulatory project and transaction approvals; and
• Advising clients seeking to construct or acquire renewable energy projects or generation facilities
Our Projects practice acts for many of the largest and most active entities in the Australian infrastructure and energy sectors, including government and private sector participants. We advise asset owners, developers and sponsors across the entire lifecycle of energy and infrastructure assets.
You will have access to the firm's extensive client base to explore and develop new opportunities and deliver outstanding service. You will act for a wide range of clients, each with unique and challenging work environments. We mobilise quickly, listen to client concerns and base our recommendations on what's most important to them.
