Your role

We are looking for a Review Services Project Manager to join the Integrated Legal Solutions (ILS) team in our Melbourne office.

The ILS team's purpose is to deliver market leading and cost-effective data management, analysis and review solutions in support of Allens’ disputes, investigations and transaction matters and to clients directly. We provide an efficient, low cost offering for the firm in response to strategic drivers in the market based on client demand for competitive pricing of disaggregated high volume work.

As our Review Services Project Manager, you will be fully accountable for matters which you are overseeing. You will also be responsible for developing the strategic plan for each project & consulting to ensure specific client needs for each matter are met. Considering those needs, you will then develop the appropriate approach to resourcing, implementation of technical strategies and quality assurance approach to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects.

As a Project Manager in Review Services, you will:

  • Project manage a wide variety of document review work on multiple matters, including regulatory, litigation and transaction based matters;
  • Be responsible for team performance on matters that you are leading;
  • Use strong technical skills in the application of a wide variety of legal technology used on projects;
  • Explain review and technology strategies in a compelling and user-friendly way as part of consulting on matter, business development opportunities and pitches;
  • Develop strong professional working relationships with partners, lawyers, clients, colleagues, Corporate Services teams and external providers;
  • Assist with the recruitment of the Review Services team members and act as Performance Coach for one or more team members;
  • Assist in the development of national learning and development programs in order to build the capability of the team, drive high performance and deliver results;
  • Build an effective, collaborative, 'One Team' approach across ILS and with legal teams to deliver quality, cost effective results on matters and national projects;
  • Share knowledge openly and effectively with ILS team members locally and nationally to contribute to our overall commercial, legal, technical and project management knowledge; and
  • Assist ILS Heads of and Managers in developing and implementing the review services strategies to meet market demands and drive change.

About you

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • A Legal qualification, with 3-5 years' experience practising as a lawyer or supervising managed review teams, is required;
  • Experience leading teams of lawyers or paralegals on large scale document review projects;
  • Outsourcing and legal technology experience, especially in litigation eDiscovery or corporate due diligence is required;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, consulting and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams;
  • Sound business development, analytical and project management skills to facilitate strong business relationships with partners, lawyers and contractors;
  • The ability to deliver under pressure and work to tight deadlines, and enjoy being organised and meticulous with thorough and methodical work practices;
  • An in-depth understanding of large scale document review processes either for litigation or due diligence and project management experience; and
  • A degree or equivalent experience in project management, legal information management, information technology or computer science is highly desirable.
