Your Role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant / Business Analyst to join our Finance team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant / Business Analyst will have Financial Accounting experience to bridge a functional gap within the Financial Management team.

This role will provide meaningful information and commentary on the financial and operational results to key stakeholders of the firm. It will also have responsibility covering month-end reporting and year-end statutory reporting for the Allens group of entities.

The main goal of the Financial Management team is to be a trusted advisor and centre of financial information for stakeholders of the firm.

Your day

As a Financial Accountant / Business Analyst, you'll be accountable for the insight that is required to support senior leadership in business planning. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing analysis and commentary on monthly and year-to-date result comparisons to budgets and forecasts
  • Reviewing existing operations, processes and procedures and recommending productivity and cost saving initiatives
  • Evaluating the firm's budget and forecast process to ensure continuous improvements
  • Assisting with forecasting and budget preparation
  • Working with the internal stakeholders to drive process efficiency
  • Month-end reporting
  • Assisting with year-end statutory reporting
  • Liaise with external auditors
  • Ad hoc tasks

Your clients

As a member of our Finance Team, you will partner with many parts of the Firm across various Corporate Services Departments including Business Operations, Commercial Management, Human Resources, IT, Knowledge & Practice Services, Marketing & Client Services and Pricing.

Key relationships in the finance team are the Planning Manager, Financial Controller, Working Capital, Payroll, Enterprise Insight as well as the Systems Team.

Externally, you'll be dealing with our BI tool supplier, Calumo, bankers and the Firm's auditors.

What you'll bring

  • ICAANZ or CPA qualification
  • Experience in a professional services environment is desirable but Big 4 first mover welcome to apply
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience using BI tools such as Calumo by InsightSoftware to produce meaningful data for presentation to key stakeholders
  • Strong communicator who is able to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • Client service focus with a willingness to engage with stakeholders at all levels coupled with a professional approach and presentation
  • Track record of being able to prioritise tasks and drive efficiency
  • Previous experience working with large sets of data to identify, summarise and communicate business trends across multiple budgets to various stakeholders

Work pattern

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Financial Business Analyst.

We support a hybrid working model where working from home part of the week is the norm.
